Description
Zlatan Ibrahimoviฤ’s story at Ajax began in 2001, when the talented but still raw Swedish striker moved from Malmรถ for a club-record fee. His time in Amsterdam, which lasted until 2004, was crucial to his development as a player, despite a difficult start.
Initially, Ibrahimoviฤ struggled to establish himself in the team, partly due to a less than ideal relationship with some of his teammates and coaches. However, under Ronald Koeman, who took over in December 2001, his talent began to blossom with greater consistency.
Over the next few years, Zlatan became a key element in Ajax’s attack, scoring spectacular goals and displaying extraordinary technique and physicality. Despite a few controversial episodes, his contribution in terms of goals and assists was significant.
During his time at Ajax, Ibrahimoviฤ won several major trophies: two Eredivisie titles (in 2001โ02 and 2003โ04), one KNVB Beker (in 2001โ02) and one Johan Cruijff Schaal (in 2002).
After three and a half seasons in Amsterdam, Ibrahimoviฤ moved to Juventus in 2004, leaving Ajax after making 74 appearances and scoring 35 goals in the Eredivisie, and 110 total appearances and scoring 48 goals in all competitions.
In short, Ibrahimoviฤ’s time at Ajax was a pivotal period in his career. Although not always straightforward, it allowed him to develop his talent, won his first major trophies and made his name in the European football scene, laying the foundations for his subsequent illustrious career.
