In the 2005-2006 season, Toni scored 31 goals in Serie A, becoming the first Italian player to win the Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer. This achievement established him as one of the most appreciated and respected strikers in Italian and European football.
His exceptional performances helped Fiorentina qualify for the Champions League. However, the joy of this achievement was overshadowed by the Calciopoli scandal, which led to the team’s cancellation of participation in European competitions.
Despite this, Toni remained tied to Fiorentina, continuing to score important goals and dragging the team to new successes.
