Description

Genoa competed in the Serie B championship in the 1988–89 season, having narrowly avoided relegation to Serie C1 the previous season. The rossoblù team dominated the championship, building a comfortable lead over their rivals by mid-season, with 29 points. Despite a dip in form in the spring, Genoa finished the tournament in joint first place with Bari, both with 51 points, thus gaining promotion to Serie A. Genoa’s top scorers that season were Marco Nappi and Davide Fontolan, both scoring 7 goals.
