The 1994/95 season was a special one for Fabio Capello’s Milan, which saw the Rossoneri team as protagonists on several fronts, but with different outcomes.

Serie A

In the league, Milan, the reigning Italian champions, failed to confirm their position, finishing in fourth place in the standings with 60 points. Juventus won the Scudetto with 73 points. Despite a solid defense (32 goals conceded, the second best figure in Serie A), the Rossoneri attack was less prolific than in previous seasons, with 53 goals scored. The best scorer in the league was Marco Simone with 17 goals.

Champions League

At the European level, Milan reached the Champions League final for the third consecutive time, after having triumphed in the previous edition against Barcelona. The path was brilliant, but in the final in Vienna they clashed with Louis van Gaal’s Ajax, losing 1-0 due to a goal by Patrick Kluivert in the final. Despite the defeat, reaching the final for the third year in a row was a remarkable achievement for the team, which confirmed its international stature.

Other Competitions

Milan also participated in other competitions:

Coppa Italia: they were eliminated in the round of 16.
Supercoppa Italiana: they won the trophy by beating Sampdoria on penalties.
UEFA Supercup: they won the title by beating Arsenal.
Intercontinental Cup: they lost the final 2-0 against Carlos Bianchi’s Vélez Sársfield.
